What brings you here?

One person, a few different rooms.

I grew up in Kanpur, studied mechanical engineering at BITS Pilani and taught myself to program along the way. That led to a master's in computer science with a machine-learning focus at the University at Buffalo, and to building products at Comverse, Adobe, Meta, Rippling and Bloomberg: creator tools, integrity systems, payroll, climate data.

Alongside the engineering I've kept exploring creativity, meditation and self-inquiry. They turn out to be the same curiosity pointed in different directions: how do things work, and how do people find what matters to them? This site is where those threads meet.

Selected experience

Over a decade of building software across telecoms, design tools, social platforms, payroll and financial data. A few of the things I've worked on:

Products at scale

Recommendation and ranking systems behind Instagram subscriptions and branded content, including a subscription recommendation system serving thousands of requests per second. I led a small team of two engineers on it.

Machine learning on practical problems

Classifiers that prompted creators to disclose paid partnerships on Instagram, models that reduced illegal item sales on Facebook Marketplace and Buy/Sell Groups, and enforcement for COVID-19 misinformation.

Systems people rely on

Payroll filings for over 100 Australian clients for the 2023–24 financial year, and a payroll and tax computation system for the Netherlands that multiple clients now use.

Climate and nature data for major companies, presented in the Bloomberg Terminal.
